The 'sharing' feature in iPhoto is not designed to upload your whole library to Flickr. Neither is Connected Flow. They work with a subset of selected photos. I came up empty handed in my own search for a tool that would upload and synchronize my iPhoto Library with Flickr. I ended up programming my own tool. You can upload photos, images, and video clips to Flickr using the Safari browser on your Mac, but uploading pictures directly from iPhoto is far more convenient. To create a new album or to add photos or images to an existing album (a set in your Flickr account’s photostream) with iLife, follow these steps:

  1. Browse and select one or more thumbnails for pictures.

  2. Click the Share tool on the toolbar and choose Flickr from the pop-up menu, or choose Share→Flickr.

If this is the first time you’re using your Flickr account with iPhoto, follow the instructions to allow iPhoto to publish to your Flickr account. You have to log in to your Flickr account with your username and password. After setting up iPhoto to work with Flickr, repeat this step.

Your Flickr sets appear on a pop-up menu.

  3. Select an option from the pop-up menu:

*New Set: Creates a new Flickr set (album)

*An existing Flickr set: Adds the photos or images to a set you’ve already created

*Photostream: Posts the photos or images to your Flickr account’s photostream

After you select New Set, a Flickr set, or Photostream, a dialog appears with the set name and privacy level and size settings.

  4. If you chose New Set, type a new set name for the new Flickr album.

  5. To control privacy for the uploaded pictures, change the Photos Viewable By option from Anyone to Only You, Your Friends, Your Family, or Your Friends and Family.

  6. (Optional) Choose a different size from the Photo Size pop-up menu.

Web is the standard size for fast uploading, Optimized is better for printing, and Actual Size is the original picture size.

  7. To publish the pictures, click Publish (or Cancel to cancel).

iPhoto may take a few seconds or minutes to upload the pictures to Flickr.

You can view the sets (albums) you’ve uploaded to Flickr by clicking your Flickr account name in the Web section of the Source pane. You can then select the set and manage its pictures, including clicking the Info button to add a description.

You can also view the Your Photostream section of your Flickr account in your browser by clicking the right arrow next to the set title at the top of the Viewer pane after selecting the Flickr set.
